I’m starting a regular weekly opinion column/newsletter. It’ll cover all sorts of topics, mostly in the form of a short article examining a topic I’m interested in, and including some links for further reading. This is a new writing project for me, and it’s early days, so it might be a bit wonky at first.
I’m calling it TXSL – my initials. Maybe it stands for Tom’s Excellent Sunday Letter. (Excellent starts with an X, right?) Or it might stand for Tom’s Exceedingly Silly Letter. (Or something worse.) Or even Tom’s Extremely Subversive Letter. Possibly all three? My plan is to post it at my personal website, on Medium, and on LinkedIn, in that order.
Some of the things it’ll cover:
- Topics from the news and current affairs.
- Writing, analysis and critique.
- Stories from my career, or that I’ve heard from others.
Unlike a lot of other writers and posters (especially on LinkedIn), I’m not terribly interested in growing a massive following or trying to sell you things. (If that ever changes, I’ll let you know in a transparent manner.) So you don’t have to worry about whether I have a particular commercial agenda, other than boosting my profile on LinkedIn a little bit, I suppose. If you want to like, comment, subscribe, that’s great! But ultimately, it’s up to you to decide if you get anything out of my writing.
Let’s proceed. I hope you’ll like what you read.
